Te Wiki o te Reo Maori

This week we have learnt some words in te reo to use in our classroom. Here room 2 students have used these words in sentences:

In our akomanga at kura we listen to our kaiako. There is a broken wini. Every day we enter our akomanga through the kuaha. Our kaiako writes on the papama and we write with a pene on pepa in our pukapuka. We an color in with pene hinu. There is pikita on the walls. At the end of the day we close all the wini put our pepa and pene away close our pukapuka, say goodbye to our kaiako and exit the akomanga.

1. We write with our pene and our pene-rakau.
2. We drew a pikitia on pepa and when I showed the pikitia to the kaiako the kaiako said "kai pa!"
3. I was reading my pukapuka in my akomanga.
4.I went to the kapata and got out my kutikuti, the makatiti, and my pene-rakau.

In the morning we arrive at school and hang our peke-kuras (school bags) and go inside our akomanga (class room). Our kaiaka (teacher) would call the roll in the morning and then we would usually do Wacky Words in our Literacy pukapuka (books) using either a pene (pen) or a pene rakau (pencil). Our kaiaka, Miss King would write words in sentences on the papama (whiteboard). Sometimes we do Literacy rotations sometimes we go on the iPod touches or on the rorohiko (computers) which live inside the kapata (cupboard). We sit on our turu (seats) by our tepu (tables/desks) or on the ground with the beanbags. We do so many things at kura (school)!
