Patrick Carman

On the 24th of May Room 2 skyped Patrick Carman. He lives in the Washington State in the USA and has two teenage daughters. He was really nice and answered all our questions. We were supposed to Skype him on Tuesday their time but Miss King skyped him on their Monday by accident. He showed us some pictures of him when he was younger with bad shirts on. He told us about some of his books and he said he might send us a copy of his new book “Dark Eden,” which hasn’t even come out yet. Patrick said he would love to come to NZ and he loves SpongeBob. He based Edgar on what he was like when he was younger, he said he was sort of wild doing a lot of things outside. He said he had a bike and he used to jump over things like his mum’s car and they didn’t even have helmets back then. He said that if we don’t care for Earth it might turn like the Dark Planet from the Atherton books (earth in the future). He told us some tips about being a writer and that it’s best if you read heaps of books. He has written over a dozen books and he’s still writing more. When he was younger he didn’t want to be a writer but a famous basketball player. Mr Carman also told us that his favourite book of all time was “Frankenstein,” and his favourite childhood book was “the Lorax” by Dr Seuss. His favourite book that he wrote was all of them but always for different things.
